Does this work for a coffee shop with no table service?+
Yes. Guests scan the QR on the table, order their flat white and pastry, and pay upfront — the ticket prints at the counter and the barista calls the order when it's ready. No queue at the till, no card machine passed back and forth.
We're a café doing brunch — can guests add a second round of coffees without flagging staff?+
Yes. The QR stays live on the table for the whole sit-down, so a second latte, an extra side or a top-up pastry is two taps away. Each round prints as its own ticket at the counter, timestamped and grouped by table.
We're a full-service restaurant — will this slow the kitchen or confuse the pass?+
No. Orders print grouped by table and course (starters, mains, sides, desserts), exactly as a server would call them. Drinks route to the bar printer, food to the kitchen. The pass sees one clean ticket per course, not a stream of individual items.
What if a guest doesn't have a phone, or it's dead?+
Staff can take the order on any device — your phone, a kitchen iPad, the till — using the same web app. Nothing to install. Cash is still fine: just mark the order as paid in cash from the back office, or have the guest pay at the counter.
Do we still take cash and card at the counter?+
Yes. Cash, card at the counter or bar, account tabs — all still work. Ordered handles the at-table digital flow; how you take other payments is entirely up to you.
Can we split items between the kitchen, bar and coffee station?+
Yes. Each menu category routes to whichever printer (or screen) you choose. Food goes to the kitchen, cocktails to the bar, espresso drinks to the coffee station — all from a single guest order, fired the moment payment clears.
Can we run table service AND counter pickup from the same system?+
Yes. Tables get a QR for at-seat ordering; the counter takes walk-ups on a staff iPad or phone using the same web app. Both flows land in the same back office, same reports, same end-of-day cash-up.
What about allergens, dietary tags and modifiers (oat milk, decaf, extra shot)?+
Every item carries the 14 statutory UK allergens plus vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free tags. Modifier groups (milk choice, syrup, shot count, sides, cooking temperature) are built in — guests pick, the ticket prints the exact spec.
How do tips and service charge work?+
Optional tip prompt at checkout with preset percentages you control (5/10/15% or off entirely). Tips land in your Stripe or Square payout, broken out on every Z-report so you can distribute via your tronc however you already do it.
Who owns the customer data?+
You do. Guest details from your storefront sit in your back office, exportable any time. We're a processor, not a marketer — we don't share or sell data, and we don't email your guests behind your back.
What happens during a payment dispute?+
Every order generates a PDF receipt with card brand, last 4 digits, authorisation code, and processor reference (Stripe or Square). That's the package banks ask for in chargebacks. Most disputes are resolved on the first reply.
Do we need new hardware?+
No. If you have a Wi-Fi printer (Epson TM-m30 / Star mC-Print) at the kitchen, bar or counter we'll push tickets to it. Otherwise tickets appear on any screen — phone, tablet, KDS. Tables just need a printed QR sticker.
How long does setup take?+
Most venues are live within an afternoon: photograph the menu (AI digitises items, prices and allergens), connect Stripe or Square, print QR codes for each table. We don't lock you in — cancel any time from your billing portal.
What does Ordered actually cost?+
Self-Service is £5.99/month plus 0.89% per order. Platform is £9.99/month plus 1.25% per order and we handle payouts for you. Your processor's card fees (Stripe or Square) are separate.
Is it GDPR-compliant?+
Yes. Data sits in EU-region infrastructure, guests can ask you to anonymise their record with one click, and we keep only what HMRC requires (transaction totals for 6 years). See our privacy policy for details.
